Transitional Southlake Kitchen Remodel

_DSC9285

It is always such a wonderful feeling to complete a remodel.  I always feels so bad for the clients that have to live in the space while the chaos is going on.

This kitchen got a total transformation. Originally it had 2 islands which really was not very functional.  The cabinets were too busy and they needed a lift with a fresh color.  The pickled "pink wood" is no longer in as we all know.

before and after

As you can see, we left all the appliances.  We made one large island,  extended the cabinets to the ceiling and added glass cabinets with lighting.  We refaced the cabinet doors so they weren't so fussy, added undercounter lighting, took out the desk area and made it into a mini bar with a wine refrigerator.

New backsplash, granite and hardware.  The lighting in the shelving really makes the accessories look beautiful.  I really love the rain glass for cabinets.  Allows you to see the items but hides the dust.

Don't you just love the tile wall behind the shelves?  The hardware on the cabinets is fab too.

Ruthie Tip:  If you want to do a quick update to your kitchen, hardware is a great way to revamp it instantly.

New recessed lighting.  We also moved all the plugs down so that they aren't in the middle of our beautiful backsplash!

The island is the star in this kitchen.  The pendant light is from "Restoration Hardware."  I LOVE IT!

We added a pull out garbage drawer and some extra storage.  We painted the island a different color than the cabinets, it really makes it feel rich.

Gorgeous granite!

We made the pantry door taller to match the other doorways in the home.  Amazing the difference that made!

Added accessories and it was a wrap!

Don't you just love the glass backsplash all the way around the windows?

New hardwood floors throughout the entire downstairs really makes this kitchen so warm!

Now it's the perfect kitchen for entertaining!

Before & After "Old World" Kitchen Makeover

Just finished a kitchen and I have to say, they were one of the best clients I've worked with.  They were enthusiastic, excited and so incredibly pleasant.  I created a design plan for them based on some pictures they showed me of kitchens they loved and we took it from there.

BEFORE......drum roll please.....

The kitchen was in terrible need of an overhaul don't you think?

AFTER
We lightened it up and made it happy.

AFTER

Installed tumbled stone tile all the way around the window and it makes a statement!

New floors and granite!

BEFORE

Good bye ceiling popcorn!

AFTER

Took out fluorescent lighting and added recessed lighting and a chandelier.  Added a coordinating light fixture above the sink.

I especially like the sconces we added to each end cabinet.  She really wanted some bling!
All the lighting was installed with dimmers so you can create the ambiance you want.

Every kitchen needs a little accessorizing if a decorator is involved.  Love jewel tones in a kitchen, especially with this beautiful granite.
New black, deep sink and new faucet and soap dispenser is a must.

We expanded the island, added a slide out drawer for the garbage can and attached some detailed columns to the island.  A little distressing and it's just like the client wanted it!

Cabinet hardware always  makes the kitchen come together!

We curved the island to make it a little bigger.  The ceiling medallion added some old world charm which is what the homeowner really wanted.

We added molding to the top of the cabinets too so now they go all the way to the ceiling, making them more to scale for this kitchen.

BEFORE

Of course every kitchen needs to have a lazy Susan on their island.  Made by special request!

BEFORE

AFTER

Installed double ovens just in time for the holiday season.

BEFORE

AFTER

Added the microwave above the new stove top.

Under counter lighting is a must if you have gorgeous granite!
It's time for this couple to celebrate with a party!

I created these knobs for their little desk area!  Had to have a "Ruthie" touch somewhere!

There kitchen chairs will be reupholstered in this fun fabric (the client is taking on this project)
Don't you love the way the knobs on this built-in desk match the fabric so beautifully!

We added molding to these columns that were originally just sheetrock.  Dresses it up and makes it smart!

New draperies and a new lamp and it's a wrap!

Can't wait to show you the kitchen we are finishing up next!

Kitchen Renovation Sneak Peak

Today I finished up my part of a kitchen remodel that we have been working on for the last 5 weeks.  My team has been working hard to get it completed so my client can get back to regular family life in her kitchen.  Here are some up close shots of the details.  I'll be posting before and after pictures of the whole room soon.
I loved this picture of this turquoise vase on her new counter top.  I happen to set my camera down and came back later and caught a glimpse of this capture on my screen.  I'm glad I decided  to take this shot because it's my favorite.    The textures are so beautiful and represent all the colors we used in this kitchen.  Her laundry room that adjoins her kitchen is going to be painted this wonderful turquoise in Phase II of this project.
We painted the walls Sherman Williams "Brandy Wine" including the ceilings, making the room feel incredibly warm and inviting.  Yeah, no more popcorn ceilings.  Wait until you see the lighting in this new kitchen!!!!
The new back splash has tumbled stone, granite and glass tiles that make a huge statement when you enter the room.
We had a cabinet custom built for her new double oven.
The black counter tops are the jewel in the room!  The light ceramic floor tile has opened the room and makes this galley kitchen feel more open and airy.  The thin grout lines were a big part of making this tile look so fabulous!
The cabinets got a fresh new coat of paint (yeah, no more pickled wood) and now have an old world finish that looks stunning with the back splash!
Can't wait to show you the rest of it!
