My Design Style
I create places that are more relaxed, collected, easier to live in; creating a gentler, more comfortable environment. My design style is a fresh classic design with an eclectic spin. I love spaces that look collected over time and tell a story about the people that live there. I incorporate antiques with history along with fresh modern pieces. Tradition is important to me as well as a comfortable space where family can gather. I love a space that has a casual elegance to it. I’m drawn to luxurious spaces with lots of textures and warmth but am extremely happy when those spaces invite you in and make you want to put your feet up. My philosophy is that comfort and beauty go hand in hand, and you should be surrounded by the things you LOVE.
“Decorating is not about making stage sets, it’s not about making pretty pictures; it’s really about creating a quality of life, a beauty that nourishes the soul.” -Albert Hadley
I have expensive taste but love to create that look on a budget. I’m a true believer that paint transforms the mood of a room and is the backdrop to your home coming to life. Mixing bold and delicate items together is one of my key ingredients. A masculine feel with a feminine touch is a look that makes my heart beat faster. Natural elements are always incorporated into my designs because those textures and earth tones give a sense of simplicity to any beautifully decorated room.
“I’d like to extinguish the myth that style and budget are mutually exclusive. I’m known for being passionate about making my clients’ homes look collected not decorated.” -Ruthie Staalsen
Artwork is an element I never forget about because it adds so much character to a space and can fill a wall instantly, making the room speak to you.
