Our client moved from their home in Frisco to a high rise apartment in downtown Dallas.
Before they moved, I met with them and walked through their beautiful home and looked at all the things they have collected over their lifetime, traveling the world.
What a challenge it is to pair down to just taking items that fit into a two bedroom apartment.
We decided that a “away for the day install” was the way for them to use our services best. See the details for this service on our website by clicking here.
I talked through everything with them as we walked through their home. We made a list of items that should go with them to their new place. It was tricky because some of the items were rather large and we wanted to make sure everything we took would fit.
Of course art was a priority and we tried to make as much of it work as we could since there was a story behind every piece. We also made a list of items we needed to buy to make the new place look just as amazing. We had a few wingback chairs that we decided to reupholster as well.
We met at their new apartment too and I decided which big furniture items should be placed where, by the movers, so we didn’t have to move those items again (on install day) since they were so heavy. We also selected new flooring and tile for their fireplace and backsplash in their “tiny” kitchen.
We also decided that the lighting needed to be changed because the client didn’t like any of it, it just wasn’t their style. We were able to change that though! We also selected a lighter flooring and that brightened up the place (see below after photos).
AFTER
The fireplace isn’t done yet in this photo, but you can see that the lighting and flooring looks fabulous.
AFTER OF FIREPLACE
This gorgeous marble hex really looks so much more traditional which is more their style.
This apartment has two bedrooms. The walls were painted a dark gray and I wanted it to feel happier so we had each bedroom accent wall painted a beautiful blue/green. The rest of the apartment was painted a nice off white.
BEFORE
So, are you ready for the after photos of this lovely place?
AFTER THE PAINT AND LIGHTING
Isn’t it so much cozier and happy? Each bedroom got a new chandelier too.
BEFORE (HER BEDROOM)
(ON INSTALL DAY)
They had everything moved into their new place, boxed up and ready for our team to unbox on install day. Our job was to find a new home for everything.

None of these photos are done by a professional so sorry for the quality. I just wanted you to see the big difference.
This is using “everything they had” but we added new bedding.

He was so excited that his special owl found its way to his bedside table.

These are the wingbacks we had recovered, aren’t they fabulous in their new fabric from Revolution Performance Fabrics.
We created a cute little sitting area for him to read the morning paper and have his breakfast. She is in a wheelchair so one of the chairs can easily be moved for her to join him.
This brass and glass scalloped coffee table really showcases the rug.
We were able to use two of their big rugs that coordinate well together in their new place and they divided up the large room into two spaces.
This painting was done by her talented “artist” son and is very special to her. We made sure it got hung in the perfect spot.
They had such beautiful accessories to work with!
Of course it was my job that the new upholstery and the throw pillows worked well with the existing rugs and everything else in their place.
This bookshelf was empty at the beginning of the day and we made it look beautiful. We moved some shelving around so we could layer art inside the bookshelf to break things up a bit and make it look less cluttered.
Their kitchen needed some adjustments made to it too. They didn’t want an oven, because the assisted living facility provides them with meals. They also didn’t want a full size fridge so we added an under the counter one which will work beautifully for them.

You can see in this photo, the new cabinets where the oven was and the under counter fridge.
In love with their new honeycomb marble backsplash and their black countertops!
This was a fabulous project and the couple was just delightful. Downsizing is not easy for the elderly so our team wanted to make sure their transition was as easy and smooth as we could make it for them.
They LOVED everything we did and finally feel all settled in. With Covid, moving, boxes everywhere and a remodel it was quite stressful.
We are in the middle of a snowstorm here in Dallas, Texas so it gave me time to work on this blog post that I’ve been wanting to do for weeks. All our electricity is off and we have no electricity. It's been an interesting day. Hoping this won’t last too long as it is 5 degrees outside.
Keep warm!
