Best Dressed Fort Worth Dining Room

It's been about 2 months since I met with my client to present her design plan for her dining room. She has been beside herself excited for installation day and has been waiting patiently.  Finally, yesterday was the BIG day.  I absolutely LOVE installation day because all the visions that have been swirling in my head come to reality!

Lesley (my assistant) and I started first thing in the a.m. prepping for their install.  We went over our checklist and made sure we had everything ready.  It is amazing what work goes into making sure all the details are covered and I'm so grateful for Lesley!  I spend many nights tossing and turning before a project install and often get up to write things down that we can't forget to take or buy for that special day.

I like to take things that are precious, breakable or anything that needs extra care in my vehicle.  My installers take very good care of my items but I'm a protective mama.

Of course, it was raining on the day we had lots to load which was a challenge.  I'm so grateful for an amazing storage facility where I can back my car right up to it, making it easier to manage.
Yesterday, as I was getting into the car, my tennis shoe slipped and I totally fell to the ground, I mean totally flat on my back.  I was a bit stunned at first because it happened so fast!  However, once I realized I was OK, all I could do is laugh and laugh.   When I got in the car I did say "Oh Lord, please don't let this day continue like this."
We headed out to Fort Worth with our coffee in hand, ready for GREATNESS.
When we arrived, we unloaded and placed the rugs.  We then anxiously awaited the arrival of all the custom built chairs that my amazing upholsterer and I designed. We dominated the freight elevator for a while, that's for sure!
My client already had the table and it was AMAZING so we had 10 chairs made to complete the room. Just imagine the fun dinner parties that are going to happen around this table.
BEFORE & AFTER
Check out that wine display cabinet, it was just finished up last month!  It is stunning in person, all behind glass! There is a lot of height in this room because it's a loft condo.  The arrangement on the table brings your eye up and adds a splash of texture and a bit of glam.
The captain chairs are a bit taller than the rest of the chairs and they truly add a special touch to the entire look.
I'm crazy in love with all the colors, stripes and geometrics. The velvet is so soft and has a beautiful sheen to it.
It was a successful day without any other falls!  I am very sore today though!
Stripes and geometrics make an amazing marriage don't you think?
Keep a watch out for the living room we did in this home the same day.

Happy weekend!  I'm hosting a birthday party here at the house tomorrow night for my hubby.  Look forward to having my home filled with all the family! Barbecue is on the menu with blackberry cobbler & ice cream for dessert.
My new website will be launched next week too so I'm incredibly excited about that.

LUXurious, Chic Master Suite

Master Bedrooms are always my favorite rooms to redo.  So often we leave our master bedroom until last in our house, however, it's where we spend most of our time.

When my I first met with my client, she had the bed and the sheets and a few pieces of furniture in this room.  She left all the old bedding behind when she moved from her Ranch. Decided it was time for a change.  The bed originally had draperies hanging all around it and I recommended she take them off and showcase the beautiful wrought iron work on the bed. She immediately did that and the room came to life!

We added Luxurious down pillows, a quilt and a down duvet cover.

The European shams are a great way to bring grandeur to your bed.
This picture was taken looking through the mirror.
You can see how beautifully the color and patterns work together!

The client found the rug and wanted me to decorate around it.  Because the rug is vibrant in color and is a show piece in the room, I didn't want to overdo the bedding.  Instead, I chose a softer more CHIC style to compliment the rug.  For those of you who know me, I'm all about "mixing it up" so it looks really classy.  All the bedding pieces were purchased through different vendors, making it look interesting.  It's all about the layers!

I found the lamp bases and added new shades to them because the ones that came with the lamps didn't appeal to me.  The new gray shade really looks handsome.

So inviting, I almost spent the night.

The artwork above the bed with the white mats really looks fabulous with the white pillows.  My client already had the chocolate brown bed skirt so the euro shams with the embroidery all around the edge really  pulled it all together.

We moved the chair in from another room.  It wasn't anything too amazing but in great shape and the perfect reading chair.

By adding a vibrant, updated pillow to the chair it immediately made it stylish.

Great way to spruce up a chair is to add a pillow, can you see how this pillow makes the chair
now?

Fun artwork display with items that were special to the client that she specifically wanted showcased.

We added splashes of the colors we used in the bedroom into the master bathroom too.

Who needs solid towels when there are such great patterns out there.  Mix solids with patterns to create a more interesting look.

New artwork to make it feel fresh and finished.

This little cabinet is in the hallway right outside the bedroom.  We made it look more modern by putting this sophisticated silver mirror above it.

Instantly gorgeous grouped with 3 glass vases on one of her silver trays.

Hope you enjoyed the tour!

I found out this week that I'll be having foot surgery sometime next week so I'm slowing down a bit because I'll have to be off it for 2 weeks, urgggg.   Working on 5 new design plans while I have to stay off my feet so I won't be doing any installs over the next few weeks.

Geometric fabrics & Blue Master Bedroom

My Intern and I had a great install yesterday afternoon for a wonderful retired couple that needed a master bedroom revamp!  I've really enjoyed working with my intern, Audra, she is a lovely high school student who is going into Interior Design when she goes off to college next year!
She is an honor student and is excited about an Interior Design career.  I hope to have her working along side me the rest of her senior year which is an amazing opportunity for me and for her!  It was especially helpful because I've lost my voice and could hardly communicate!

BEFORE

If you know me, I don't do the "matchy matchy" thing.

AFTER

My clients had friends over from out of town so they were in the living room waiting anxiously while they sipped wine.  It was fun to hear them enjoying each other as they had a wine tasting of several different wines they had purchased!   They were so excited for the reveal!

Mixing it up makes it WAY more interesting. You don't want your "custom" space to look like it was a bed in a bag where all the fabrics are the same.

At least that's what I prefer for my designs.

BEFORE

AFTER

The boxes on the bed are filled with chocolates now.  However, they can be used later for putting items that you want to hide to alleviate the clutter (medicines, remotes, tissues, etc.)

We had all the bedding custom made (my workroom is fantastic) and then incorporated some of the items the client had already into the design.

This beautiful tapestry is important to them and is  from their travels together.  Therefore, the colors were my inspiration  for the room.  They really wanted this treasure placed in their bedroom.

It really looks great with the new fabrics would you say?  They already had the bed, dressers and side tables so I was happy to incorporate them into the design.

They have a beautiful home on the golf course and love to bird watch.

I thought the lamps I chose were perfect for them and I couldn't believe I found them!

I especially love the velvet pillow shams with the bedspread fabric on the cording.  Really pulls all the colors together.  DETAILS, DETAILS, DETAILS.  Soft cotton down filled pillows are a nice contrast against the velvet.

My client absolutely loves every shade of blue so we added this amazing bed skirt to the bed.  I'm  just crazy about this geometric pattern and the pleating is not too fussy.

I always love to add an unexpected pop of color to my designs.  In this room it was an apple green pillow with a crisp linen floral medallion pattern.  A happy surprise in this traditional bedroom.  My job is to stretch my clients a little which means taking risks and stretching them a bit.  I chose several fabrics for them to choose from for the bedding and then fortunately they completely trusted me in the pillow selections (I've decorated her entire home so we've built that trust :)  and she LOVED the combinations we selected!

Shhhh.....we tucked a few chocolates under their pillows!

We added some new towels and bath mats to their bathroom too and they feel like butter!  Soft and luxurious.  NEVER skimp on towels and linens.  Spend more money on these items that you come in contact with each time you step out of the bath or shower.
