Grapevine, TX Master Bathroom Remodel

Wow, we finished another master bathroom.  What a transformation this one is.

The requests from the client were:

More storage space to hide the clutter,  updated shower with niches and a bench, new floor tile, new countertops, new lighting, blue paint, updated bathtub and a vanity to do makeup.

BEFORE

As you can see it was in desperate need of a makeover. I suggested that we open up the closed "cave like"  shower to make the bathroom feel more open.  They didn't need the toilet to be separate because it was functional to them without the swing doors and they don't have anyone else that lives in the home with them.

AFTER

We took the bathroom down to the studs and started over!!!

You can see in the above photo that the shower is now opened up and now we get to admire the gorgeous tile work too.  Nobody wants to shower in a cave.  Why did they make showers like that before?   Just look at it now!  So much better don't you think? We also brought the tile up the walls and behind the toilet because that keeps things cleaner and fresher. We added the same glass accent tile as we have in the shower above it.

BEFORE

AFTER

We added new cabinets with quartz countertops.

The hardware is the jewelry!

We weren't able to center the sink under the mirror due to opening up the shower, storage needs as well as needing the vanity but the client had no problem with that.  Priorities, priorities.

The client really wanted a vanity so she could sit and do her makeup.  I was so proud of her, she spray painted her existing vanity stool and did a weekend upholstery job.  I gave her a thumbs up because you know I love to repurpose if I think it works and helps us stay on budget.

Singing the Hallelujah chorus!

We had space next to the tub so we decided to add the 4  drawers for extra storage space. It would have been wasted space otherwise.  Can you believe how gorgeous the accent tile is?  The Arabesque pattern is just amazing made out of pearl. I suggested we put it around the windows to balance the bathtub side with the tower cabinets on the other side of the room.  It is stunning and was quite a challenge to install!

Can we also take a moment of silence and stare at the chandelier!  It's on a dimmer for soaking  moments.

Every "spa like" bathroom needs a tower of rocks.

and a colorful rug! Rugs bring everything together. I like to use rugs that aren't the typical rugs you would use in a bathroom. It just makes the room more spectacular and bumps it up to the next level.

The client had the large blue pottery made by a local artist and I found the baby pottery to go with it.  Perfect for fresh flowers when you are feeling like treating yourself.

BEFORE

Oh my!  Can you believe this?

AFTER

We opened up the entire bathroom by taking out the wall to wall cabinets.  Instead we did tower cabinets and put pull out drawers in each one so things could be hidden away.   We took out the fur downs and that opened things up a ton too.  Made the entire bathroom feel taller and more spacious.

As you can see, this bathroom coordinates beautifully with the bedroom we transformed for them.

Tiny Bathroom Ideas and Inspiration

So it's been a 6 week process but we are finished with this "tiny" bathroom remodel.

When my client first contacted me she was desperate for an update to her hall bathroom.  She had NO storage and the bathroom was not functional for her family (teens involved here).  Her priorities were to add as much storage as we could and a place where more than one person could get ready at the same time and to do it all within her allotted budget.

AFTER

Of course, like I always do for clients that are wanting me to handle the entire job for them, I put together a design plan for her with color suggestions, flooring and wall tile choices, cabinet color, hardware, shower curtain options, fixtures, lighting, etc.

She loved the design plan so we moved ahead right away!

Ruthie's tips for making a "tiny" bathroom feel bigger.

1. Bring the tile to the ceiling
2. Use larger tile so you have less grout lines
3. Use light, fresh colors
4. Add recessed lighting to add lots of light
5. Use curves to create softness (round mirrors, etc.)
6. Add a pocket door if you can
7.  Maximize your storage so you don't have "stuff" all over the counters.

We ripped out the old cabinets and installed custom made ones.  We installed new counter tops with a new under mount square sink.  Didn't have room for 2 sinks but that's okay because storage was more of a priority for this client.  2 round mirrors were added instead of the large rectangular one.

I recommended that we curve the counter top around the toilet area to give them more room.  Of course we couldn't put cabinet doors underneath this part of the counter because then they wouldn't have been able to open them because of the toilet being in the way.  Our solution was to do add adjustable shelving so they can add baskets of their choice for misc. storage.  We hid the toilet paper roll in there too so that's nice :)  New brushed nickel hardware really dressed up the cabinets as well.  Notice how we mixed them too so they aren't all pulls.  Knobs and pulls together look more interesting.

We added plugs to the inside of the cabinet so they can store their hairdryers there permanently!

New tile and bathtub and a new niche for hair products. I love the little miniature shelf for razors, etc. We added small recessed lighting to the shower area too so they can see and have no excuse but to  be squeaky clean!

Big difference isn't it?  The wall color was inspired by the medallion shower curtain I found.  It really is a fresh, clean, inviting color.
The laminate wood floors really added a warm look to the space.  She now has tons of cabinet space too so everything can be hidden and all things have a place.

We put a pocket door in as well so we could add cabinets to one of the walls without interfering with the door.  Nice big, deep drawers for makeup and a lighted mirror that is attached to the cabinet that pulls out and magnifies for convenience,  Eeeek!!!

It's a gorgeous space now and functional too.

Hope this bathroom inspired  you to make a "tiny" bathroom into a "grander" space!

Master Bathroom Remodel

We ALL love a bathroom remodel!  We are in the final stages of a clients master bathroom.
My client really wanted a double shower and hardly ever used her bathtub.  I suggested that they put the shower where the bathtub was and put the tub where the shower was.  It worked beautifully and now they have what they wanted.

AFTER
Notice that the pink flower stained glass is gone now too!  Thank goodness that wallpaper has been taken down as well.
AFTER
The glass tile really makes a statement when you walk into the bathroom and is the artwork in the space.
The bench got touches of the glass tile too.
BEFORE
So scary!
AFTER
Much better.
(Cabinets done by Divine Inspirations)

Stunning new granite counter tops were installed.  New sink, faucets and lighting were added.    I also had the painters paint the cabinets as well as the moulding around the mirror.  I then had an artist glaze them.  They look like they belong in a hotel they are so gorgeous!  Who says you need all brand new cabinets.....they were white and shabby but now they are stylish!

BEFORE

This bathroom is getting a face lift!!!
We removed the wallpaper and repainted the room a soft misty blue.  We changed out this dated tile and replaced it with some beautiful 18X18 tiles.  The tile goes all the way up to the ceiling and looks fantastic!!  The room looks SO MUCH bigger now.   The client was really nervous about using larger tile but they are very happy now that they see it installed.
We put in a glass decorative border, the cabinets have been painted a rich chocolate brown and we have installed an AMAZNG mirror.  All the fixtures and hardware have been replaced too.
BEFORE
A new shower curtain is being made and it's going to be fabulous hung on a curved rod much higher than this wimpy little shower curtain.
Isn't this fabric fun, fun, fun for 2 young girls!!
Wait until you see the towels and artwork I've chosen to go in this fun little hall bathroom.
I'll post pictures of the finished room soon!
