The Dallas Traditional Home Showhouse is over! We are all feeling sad about it. It was super hard to take everything out of the home and see it become empty again. However, the home sold has and now a happy family is living in it!
We designers of the home all got a surprise invitation from Cambria (one of the Showhouse sponsors) to visit their facilities in Minneapolis.
It was an all expenses paid trip and they treated us like royalty.
Cambria is known for being a family owned business, with all their quartz products, made in America.
We toured their facility where the quartz is made. It was amazing to see the detailed process. Their plant was so clean and so well organized, you just wouldn't believe it.
One of the biggest things I noticed, is that they are resourceful. None of their product goes to waste. Cambria uses the highest quality machinery and their tools are all watched closely to make sure they are sharp and in good shape. Not a thing goes unnoticed.
These gorgeous collages, were put together by LAB MPLS so we could see all the new quartz colors that are launching. Aren't they fab and so creative?
Which collage is your favorite?
We got to tour some of the facilities that have Cambria Quartz installed.
What I learned is that quartz doesn't have to just be used for countertops. This conference table was created with raw edge wood and cambria quarz sandwich'd between it. This is another reason I love Cambria: they think outside the box and are always wanting to be innovative.
It got my creative juices going! I lay awake at night thinking about what I can create for my clients.
We were wined and dined the entire 2 days we were there.
What Cambria doesn't know is that they gave me a gift. The gift of STOPPING the everyday business of my design business. It was a relaxing and inspiring trip for sure!
I found myself in the limo laughing with other designers, sharing our experiences, admiring each others shoes, and just plain relaxing. It was a bonding time for all of us. We had yummy lunches and fabulous dinners sitting next to the Cambria Staff and the Traditional Home Editors. You should have heard the buzz in the air as we all got to know each other apart from what WE DO, and got to know each other for who WE ARE as people.
At one point, we were all gathered around a huge table to do a creative project. What I noticed, is that just stopping and doing something with our hands is so therapeutic. Crazy, how I think our society has lost the art of just sitting and doing something creative. We are always on the go. The moment we stop, is when conversation starts and therapy sessions begin, lol.
No wonder woman used to get together to quilt. It was a time for them to sort things out in their lives with the people they cared about.
As we walked the halls at the Cambria plant on our incredibly educational tour, I noticed that the employees all seem really happy. There was a comradery between them. Lots of high fives and fun and a true sense of family.
Cambria is known for their quality quartz- and what a gorgeous product it is! However, I think they are successful because they have a great product and a great company that takes care of their people. I could tell that relationships are important to them. They invest in relationships, and that is why we were invited on this trip. They are investing where they should be investing.
People want to work with people they trust. I always choose people in my business that I know will be authentic and who value relationships. Ultimately that is what gets us so many referrals and new business. Talent and quality is key but trust wins every time.
At Christmas time, their plant is decorated beautifully and families pile into their cars, all bundled up with hot chocolate to see the sparkle over the lake.
So, yes it was confirmed to me that Cambria has gorgeous quartz, but most of all they are a company that I want to work with because they invest in people and that is what makes them successful in my eyes!
