I was recently asked if I would decorate a table for a local charity event here in Southlake, Texas for Unlikely Heroes.
Quoted from Unlikely Heroes “More than 400 children are safe and we've opened 6 restoration homes in 4 countries around the world, providing every child with safe housing, medical care, trauma therapy, education, and job training.”
The event was called Tabletops Southlake and was held at the Southlake Hilton. About 30 tables were decorated by local woman to raise money for Unlikely Heroes. They sold tickets to the public to come tour the tables to get ideas for the holiday season.
I loved reading the stories of some of the rescued survivors and how the money we raise helps people that have been trapped in sexual slavery for many years, some of them right in our local neighborhoods.

When I was thinking about what I wanted my table to be like, I knew that I wanted it to be a non-traditional table. I wanted colorful, collected, fresh and bold, loaded with sophistication.
I found these gorgeous gold urns and I loved how tall they were and knew they could create spectacular height for my table centerpiece.
The great part about this event is that nobody actually ate at the tables, so we could decorate them without worrying about them being in the way for conversational reasons.
I partnered with Shane with Botanical Mix. He provided all the fresh flowers for the table. I came up with a design plan for the table and we created the design on the spot. I wanted it to feel loose and free so we had fun creating it together.
Thank you Shane for your generous donation and incredible creativity!
I worked with Replacements.com for this event, they sent me the amazing leopard print dinner plates as well as the gold bamboo silverware. They also provided the beautiful crystal gold ball wine glass.
I found the yellow napkins while thrifting and knew that I could use some existing marbled napkins done by Jill Seale. I tied them in a knot around the black and white napkins and it instantly worked for me!
The pearl inlay chargers, the Christmas greens placemats, and the bird plates are from World Market.. Aren’t they fabulous?
We covered different size books in gold, black, and white wrapping paper because I knew we needed different heights to layer the fruit and candles I wanted to add.
The finished table was exactly what I envisioned! It’s colorful without looking too much like spring, right?
The best part about being a part of these charity events is that you make so many new friends.
