Our client hired us to freshen up her very traditional home. We completed her boys bedrooms last year and she hired us for Phase II which was to transform her living spaces, dining room, game room, kitchen and wine cellar. Each space had started to look tired and worn and we came in and spruced it all up, making it feel fresher and more up to date.

We painted this dining room a magical blue, doesn’t it look amazing. It created an intimate space for dining with family and friends. It was ready just in time for Easter Sunday.

We added accessories to the dining room too. A new marble lamp, draperies and ginger jars with pops of yellow.

We had the entry painted this fabulous light blue and it really made it feel so much more inviting. It works beautifully with the dark blue in the adjoining dining room.
The piano room (as I called it) got new drapes, a hide rug and other accessories and updated pillows to create a more sophisticated sitting area.
I can imagine a party here with the pianist playing something magical as the guests roam about. A wedding would be fantastic too! The client had the Steinway piano reworked and had a custom stool made for it. Such a piece of art!
BEFORE
The drapes really made the room feel dark. These were the drapes that were in the piano room as well. Sure made a difference once we put up the new ones.
AFTER
The old yellow taffeta drapes got taken down and we added the blue and white drapes. What a difference that made. We added new pillows and moved the furniture around. Added plants and other accessories to give it life.
BEFORE
This game room just needed some TLC. They got rid of the two sofas and we purchased a sectional which made so much more sense in this room with so many columns.
AFTER
This room is in the basement. It has lots of items from travels that my client has experienced all over the world. We kept the rug (I loved it) layered a jute rug underneath it because it wasn’t quite big enough. We added a round coffee table, two chairs which are not in this photo and accessories, pillows and lamps. It really is a fun, playful room and even though it is not formal like the other spaces in their home. It’s perfect for the location of the space.

The wine room really needed new lighting and a sputnik flush mount chandelier was the answer. I had a raw edge table made for an industrial base I found. The three leather triangle ottomans are perfect for the space and don’t take up too much room in this tiny space. The tops also open up for storage! This room is a great place to do some wine tasting with friends, don’t you think?

(this is not a professional photo) but I wanted you to see the impact of change)
The kitchen got a spruce up as well. We had new quartz countertops installed and added some vintage artwork. It really lightened up the space and it feels like a different kitchen. We redid the adjoining family room too but haven’t photographed that room yet.
We were able to unite all the rooms together with the paint colors we selected. Each room flows beautifully now and it feels like a different house.
Hiring a designer can transform your space completely. We think of things that you wouldn’t have thought of and I love to use items you have collected over the years. We can work around the things you have and can make them work with newer updated items that you will love as well.
