Arabesque Master Bathroom Remodel

This summer we completed an amazing master bathroom renovation.  We  just  had the remodel photographed so I thought I'd share the pictures with you.

Carrera Marble countertops provide a modern take on a traditional look so that's what we chose for the countertops & shower surround.

The gray veins in the marble makes a room look sophisticated and classy.  The accent wall in the shower is my favorite.   The large Arabesque pattern marble is stunning.  The word Arabesque means " ornamental design consisting of intertwined flowing lines."  I just love saying the word A-R-A-B-E-S-Q-U-E because it sounds cool.

We enlarged the shower and took the marble tile all the way to the ceiling.  Why have all that waisted space!  We added  niches and a bench so she can shave now without falling, LOL.  I suggested a round ottoman for the space and my client found one she loved.  It has a little chair that matches for her vanity area.

We took the doors off the built in storage so we could use it to display  towels as well as accessories.  The client never used that storage area so it wasn't a waste of space.  Now it looks fantastic for accessories and rolled up decorative towels.

2 shower heads is also a big improvement for a big family.

We took out the existing vanities and added new ones with overhead cabinets for more storage. I really loved the legs so you can see underneath the vanity, making the room seem bigger.    The client loves antiques and has a lot of wood in the rest of her home so the mix of wood with stone was a great solution.  The round scallopped mirrors soften the space too.

The bathtub was taken out completely and a free standing tub  and bath faucet was installed.  We kept the stained glass window but just enhanced the molding around it.  We put marble on the column ledges and that looks to die for.

I'm in love with this vintage chair!

The columns were refinished in an "old world"  finish the client really wanted, adding a texture to the space that makes it feel mysteriously aged.

We added new lighting and that made the entire room come together beautifully, adding such charm.  All on dimmers so the light could be adjusted accordingly.

So here are the BEFORE and AFTER shots!

Family Room Before and After

So much fun to finish this project for my client just in time for Thanksgiving with their family.  We gave their family room and kitchen an update with paint, new furniture and accessories.

BEFORE
The fireplace was a cream stone and had such beautiful detail.  However, the detail was lost because the fireplace didn't make a grand statement, it just blended into the wall color.
AFTER

We fauxed the fireplace surround a graphite gray and it now has much more grandeur. I suggested they paint their bookshelves an off white so their accessories could be showcased. Collectibles always look better against white.

AFTER
They had a patterned carpet in the room already but my client wasn't too fond of it!  I found a rug that complimented it well that we  placed on top of it.  This added dramatic color and interest to the room and made my client really happy!  The leather sectional was a must because this is their TV watching room where lots of football watching goes on!
Of course you have to have reversible pillows for those that love instant change!

A seven foot mirror really added a WOW to the room!
This console table matches the fireplace color.
I found this metal urn and painted it and then aged it.  Added some driftwood and it's a fantastic addition to the bookshelves.  Notice the wonderful cinnamon color behind the bookshelves!

Every room needs a touch of animal print.
Sorry for the TV reflection. I couldn't figure out how to turn it off!  I really tried to personalize the room so it didn't look staged! Family photos and special items were hung on the walls to make them feel surrounded by their special things.  The crosses were gifts from family and friends.

This stone was our inspiration for the color palette for the paint colors.

Adding candles in the same color scheme really adds a magic to the space.

Enjoy your weekend!
I'll post more about their kitchen later. Wait til you see what we did with their enormous island!

Remodel, just in time for a wedding.

Photography by Ken Vaughan
It is always great to see pictures of a finished project!
This kitchen was remodeled just in time for a family wedding.
Several months ago, I had a "walk-thru" consultation with a wonderful couple.  They met with me desperate for ideas and inspiration to get their home ready for a family wedding.    I made suggestions for floor tile, carpet, wall colors, kitchen cabinet colors, back splash tile and design, granite choices, furniture placement, lighting, window treatments, appliances and much more.

We painted the fireplace mantel to make a statement
and tiled entire room which leads into the kitchen.
They hired Jeff Teller with Nationwide Floor and Window Coverings (214-738-6001) to do all the tile, carpet and granite work.  Jeff and I worked together with this client to make sure nothing fell through the cracks.  Everything HAD to go smoothly, especially since they wanted the project done before the wedding.   Couldn't have family and friends staying in your home with no floors and a torn apart kitchen.

Jeff Teller with Nationwide is amazing!  He is very detailed and doesn't miss a thing!
The carpet and tile we selected look beautiful together and open up the space.  Using large tile and laying it on a diagonal makes the space flow nicely. The patterned carpet adds texture and interest.   Before the spaces felt really choppy as you went from room to room, now it's roomy and open.
After the whole project was done, I spent a day rearranging their existing furniture, hanging accessories, pictures and putting together all the finishing touches.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
An event always gets you motivated to do some remodeling!
