First day of fall - Velvet & paper decor

I discovered these velvet pumpkins today through Pinterest and I got all inspired.  Appropriate since it's the first day of fall today.    I especially LOVE the black/dark brown one!
I love all the orange pumpkins this time of year but I tend to gravitate toward real ones that are out of the ordinary.  White, black, green and brown, instead of all orange.
This combination is so rich and classy.
Aren't these fall colors gorgeous? So rich and warm!
Turquoise and green look lovely together.  I'm going to be making some of these this year!
They look like great friends socializing together and compliment each other well with their variety of personalities.

Isn't this a great idea?  They used book pages to create these cascading leaves.  Brilliant and such a different twist to the usual fall decorating you see.

Combined with the white china, this is so soft and makes such a statement all at the same time.  Wouldn't a velvet pumpkin look beautiful on this shelf?

Hope your weekend is full of coolness as you start decorating your homes for the fall season!
Happy first day of fall!
I can't wait to decorate my mantel and add my pumpkins to my patio and around my pool.  Hopefully my scarecrow has survived the brutal summer up in the attic, she may be a skeleton up there now!  This was her all dressed up last year.
This was my fall arrangement in my dining room last year.
 I added shoe polish to my pumpkins to give them a shine and a glow!  Try it, you will love the look.

Decorating with fall colors!

These green and burnt orange colors are breathtaking together!
As most of you know, Dallas has had no rain this summer.  It's so sad as you drive around town and see that there is NO color anywhere.  All the grass is dead, the trees are brown and even the cactus are wilted.   We have all been dying for fall so we can get some relief from the 108 degree weather and get some color back into our lives.  Finally this weekend we have had some relief and see the light at the end of the tunnel with some cooler weather!

For those of you that have been to my house, you know that I LOVE fall colors.
I have every one of these colors in my home and they make me feel joyful & happy.
Nature is so inspiring and gives me ideas and inspiration daily for color combinations I might not have thought about putting together.
This poor little house looks sad but it's surrounded by such beauty.
Great walk to the park.  We don't get fall foliage like this here in Dallas.
Burnt oranges, green, terra cotta, yellows, brown, sienna, umber all make such a warm combination and invite you into a space.
A soft muted palette.
A happy place to sit and be still.  These colors are so calming.
Aren't these color combinations beautiful?  The green doors are stunning with the red florals, terra cotta pots and the wrought iron work.
No words can describe this beauty!
The black with this yellow is so striking!
Wouldn't this be a colorful journey?
Love houses that have been painted with fall colors.
When the trees their summer splendor
Change to raiment red and gold,
When the summer moon turns mellow,
And the nights are getting cold;
When the squirrels hide their acorns,
And the woodchucks disappear;
Then we know that it is autumn,
Loveliest season of the year.
