Master Bathroom Redo!

Wow, get ready for this! A total redo. This master bathroom was in extreme need of a makeover. The demolition started a few days ago and we are going to take out everything and start over. My contractor and his team have been working hard to get this gutted.

I always try to warn my clients about the mess that takes place when you remodel. No-one can prepare you, not even your decorator, for the chaos of having your closets emptied and your whole master bedroom in disarray. Luckily this client has a daughter that is happy to accommodate them. I'll be sending pictures of the progress as big changes happen.

Sorry for the spots on this photo, I'm not sure what happened.

Kitchen is complete!!!

I blogged a couple weeks ago about a kitchen that was getting a transformation that you wouldn't believe. Well, here are the before and after pictures. We re-faced the kitchen cabinets so we wouldn't have to totally replace them all. Painting them and then adding new hardware makes them look brand new! What a difference the lighting makes. Thank you Judy for making my job so enjoyable.

Cottage In The Woods Candles! Best Ever!

I want to share with you a candle that I've discovered that is absolutely amazing! They burn all the way down and the fragrance lingers throughout your whole house. I've tried many different kinds of candles and these are my favorite.

I met a client about a year ago that sells them and I bought a few. The first one I purchased was Creme Brule and it smells so good. My husband said that it was false advertising because he'd walk in the room thinking I had baked something really tasty and it was the candle. I've purchased every fragrance and these are my favorite: Creme Brule, vanilla bean, clean linen. They burn for 60 hours!!!!! Love that! I've given them away as gifts to clients and everyone loves them.

The Best Birthday Gift Ever!

We recently went on vacation to the beach. I was determined to find a piece of driftwood so I could use it somehow in my decor in our new home. We spent a day walking the beach as a family trying to find the best piece! The girls had a blast collecting shells and helping us find this treasure. After several hours, we found it! We marked the spot in the sand so we could drive back to the beach and pick it up later that evening. I knew I loved the piece because it had character and wonderful shape. We hauled it home and let it sit until I came up with an idea for it. Right before I left town for my birthday weekend with friends, I told my husband that I'd love to see the driftwood stained and put on a stand of some sort. I kinda described my thoughts to him (he is so wonderful about all my crazy ideas). Well, guess what he did? While I was gone, he and the girls stained it and did exactly what I expected, put it on a stand! It's amazing and far beyond what I imagined! The memory of walking on the beach with our family and picking it out together is the best part of this gift!

These are the kinds of accessories that fill our homes and personalize them, making a house a home!

African Heritage

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know that I love to paint when I can. This weekend I got the itch so this is what I came up with. I was born and raised in South Africa so I really wanted to have something that said "Africa" in my home. I found the center piece of rice paper at a flea market and used it as my inspiration for the painting. I'm not an expert but sure loved creating this. If you have lived in Africa at all, you know that it is always in your blood! What a wonderful place to live.
